About Me

"Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions and the actions that speak louder than words. It's making the time when there is none...coming through time after time, year after year. Commitment is what character is made of...the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism."            Commonly attributed to Abraham Lincoln

That is one of my favorite quotes and it hangs on the wall at my house. I have always thought of it as a commitment in marriage, but since I began working as a personal trainer, I can see how it equally applies to one's fitness goals!

I am retired from Mesa County School District 51 after 33 years of teaching middle schoolers. As an educator, I taught many subjects - English, math, science, social studies, computers, and health- and coached volleyball, basketball, and track. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology with a minor in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Arts degree in Educationally Handicapped. I also have a Career and Technical Education certificate in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. I also hold a Personal Trainer certificate and Senior Fitness Specialist certificate through ISSA, the International Sports Sciences Association, which includes a CPR/AED certification. I guess you could say I love teaching and learning!

My wife and I have three grown sons: one is the Creative Director for the New Mexico State Tourism Department, one has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Captain in the Army, and the youngest is an electrical apprentice, working toward his Journeyman’s and Master Electrician’s license.

We enjoy working on our 10-acre farm, gardening, growing hay, and tending to our plethora of animals. We also love camping, hiking, biking, and floating the rivers in our area.

I’ve stayed active throughout my life by participating in sports such as basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, weightlifting, golf, and most recently, pickleball! I’ve also spent much of my time training for numerous multi-day bicycle touring trips. A highlight for me has been completing the Ride the Rockies eight times, and I’ve also done the Iron Horse down in Durango.

Staying active throughout every season of life is a core value for my family and me. No matter your age, I would love the opportunity to come alongside you in your fitness journey and to share my enthusiasm for what I love best, helping others realize their potential and meet their personal goals.
